Living Large

24x36 Oil on Stretched Canvas

For the past few days I've been working on larger pieces.  Some I had started and am finishing and others, like this one, were just in the idea phase- blank canvas.  I blocked it yesterday and worked on it most of today.  Lots of paint- big brushes-palette knives- really a good stretch!

In Process

24x36 Oil on Canvas

This is a large piece that I have been stuck on for some time now. The original foreground building was red, and as I blocked it in I just couldn't get past the color or the prominence -I wasn't comfortable with what was there in the scene.  Today, I am having some fun changing things around and I am getting much happier with what could happen.  There is a long way to go with this one, but I feel that I can move forward at last.  It is the type of work I would love to do regularly, so it became a stumbling block. Sometimes, you just have to take some chances and go ahead at risk of failing.  Here's hoping I can finish!

Tiny House

8x8Oil on Board.  NFS
It has been a very busy holiday season- not much time to paint in the past two weeks.  However, I did manage to finish this one- a gift for family of their "tiny house" a lovely little carriage house apartment in Arlington, MA.  Can't wait for the unwrapping later today!

While visiting my sister yesterday I. central Florida, we came across these two who weren't entirely happy to have visitors.  Cows are not something I see every day in Boston- couldn't resist!
